Brigitte Sossou Perenyi is an International Human Rights activist and a Founding Member of YoHRA. Brigitte was only seven years old when her uncle took her from her parents’ home to a traditional religious shrine hundreds of miles away to become a “trokosi” (slave of the gods) in rural Ghana. Ms. Perenyi’s inspiring story of escape from this ordeal, her subsequent adoption by an American family, her education, and career has been a source of great inspiration to other African children. Today she is an International Human Rights activist and advocate with passion to reach out to Africa through YoHRA. Brigitte wishes to reach out more to vulnerable women and children in Africa because of her own experience.
